Are My Feelings Normal?

Lonely in Irvine writes:

Recently I've been experiencing some strange feelings. I can't be left alone for more than a day without becoming incredibly depressed and lonely. It gets so bad sometimes I start to panic and breath heavily and eventually turn into tears. When I try to phone either my boyfriend or best friend their phones either have no connection and take me to voice mail or they don't pick up. I get angry at them and then become more upset. I've told them how I feel and they seem to just do a slanted "that sucks" face and then change the subject. My boyfriend stayed at his friend, Christines (yes a girls), house last night and I havent heard from him today even after trying to call him. Im sitting here writing this letter in desperation because I feel I need someones advice... am I just being stupid or is there something wrong with me? I can't deal with the lonliness I feel. When I find out my friend or boyfriend is out with someone I feel mad because I'm not with anyone as though it makes me pathetic and it's starting to worry me. Its beyond the point of being a petty jealousy because it hurts far too much. Please help me. I need it so badly.

Yin's Answer

It sounds like you could be having panic attacks, particularly with your breathing problems.

Panic attacks are sudden, discrete periods of intense anxiety and can last anything from 15 seconds to half an hour..

The best way to deal with this is with your GP. Talk to them about how you feel and what makes you feel this way. They will be able to help you feel better and overcome these feelings.

Yang's Answer

These episodes could be panic attacks which your doctor can help with but you need to get over your jealous feelings.

It is not your friends or boyfriend's fault that you feel upset and you cannot blame them for living their lives. After all they are not mad at you if you are spending time with others.

You can't blame them for not picking up their phones if when they do you are mad with them all the time.

Speak to your GP for advice on dealing with these feelings and try to be calmer when you can not get in touch with your friend and boyfriend.

The happier you are in yourself, the happier they will be to spend time with you.

Discharge Issues

♥confused teen♥ writes:

Hey, I really am confused, you see I started having pale discharge like 10 months ago, do you think I will start my periods soon? My mate started a few weeks ago and she had only been having it for two months, man im confused.

Yin's Answer

It is normal for teenage girls to have a discharge before and after they have started their periods.

It is nothing to worry about and also it is no indicator to when you will get your period.

Everyone starts at different times so don't compare yourself to your friends, you are better off taking to your mum and finding out when she started her periods as that will give you some idea as to when you will get yours.

Yang's Answer

A discharge is normal but it cannot tell you when you will get your period.

If you just have a discharge then there is nothing to worry about but if it is combined with a vaginal itch or discomfort there is a change it could be thrush.

This is easily treated but if you think it could be thrush then see your doctor to be on the safe side.
